Neural DSP has unveiled the Quad Cortex mini, a groundbreaking ultra-compact processor designed for guitarists and bassists. This innovative device retains the advanced processing capabilities, audio fidelity, and Neural Capture technology of its predecessor, the original Quad Cortex, but in a significantly smaller and more portable format.
Compact Design Meets Powerful Features
The Quad Cortex mini is engineered to deliver the full functionality of the original model while reducing its physical size by over 50%. With dimensions of just 22.8 x 11.8 x 6.5 cm and a weight of 1.5 kg, this processor is perfect for musicians who need a reliable solution for pedalboards, desktop studios, compact racks, and travel setups. It features a 7-inch touchscreen interface, similar to the flagship model, complemented by four stainless-steel rotary footswitches that allow for intuitive control during both editing sessions and live performances.
Advanced Sound Replication and Effects
Equipped with Neural Capture V1 and V2, the Quad Cortex mini enables users to create precise digital replicas of amplifiers, cabinets, drive pedals, fuzzes, and compressors. It comes pre-loaded with an extensive library that includes:
- Over 90 amplifiers
- More than 100 effects
- 1,000 impulse responses
- 2,000 Captures
Additionally, users gain free access to thousands of community Captures via Cortex Cloud. The device also supports various workflow features such as Preset, Scene, Stomp, and Hybrid modes, along with Gig View, Focus and Pages systems, and compatibility with supported Neural DSP plugins.
Robust Connectivity Options
Beyond its processing capabilities, the Quad Cortex mini serves as a 16-channel USB-C audio interface, offering 8 inputs and 8 outputs. It introduces a locking power connector for enhanced security during live performances. Connectivity options include:
- Instrument/microphone combo input with phantom power
- Balanced XLR outputs
- Stereo send/return via TRS
- MIDI over TRS and USB-C
- Dedicated headphone output for silent practice
Users can seamlessly share presets and full system backups between the Quad Cortex mini and the original Quad Cortex, ensuring consistency across multiple setups.

Software Enhancements with CorOS 4.0.0
The launch of the Quad Cortex mini coincides with the release of CorOS 4.0.0, a significant software update for the Cortex ecosystem. This update introduces new effects and utilities, including Nordic Concert Hall, Blossom, Studio Plate 70, and the Phase Doctor signal-alignment tool. CorOS 4.0.0 fully supports the Quad Cortex mini and is available for compatible devices at launch.
Pricing and Availability
The Quad Cortex mini is now available for purchase at a price of €1,299.
